Who We Are

At hEr VOLUTION, we believe in breaking barriers for the next generation of youth—especially girls and gender non-conforming youth from underserved communities across Ontario—so that they embrace their potential in STEM. We’re here to create pathways for those who might not always see themselves represented in science, technology, engineering, or math fields. By connecting youth with industry leaders, we help spark inspiration, build confidence, and open doors to exciting careers.

Our focus is rooted in understanding the needs of both the community and the ever-evolving STEM industry. Through our programs, we provide the tools, mentorship, and opportunities necessary to help youth thrive in the 21st century. Together, we’re working to shape a future where everyone feels welcome and empowered to pursue their dreams in STEM.

Here to Inspire

hEr VOLUTION was founded by Doina Oncel, driven by her own personal journey and a belief that embracing diversity will create more opportunities for women in STEM. As an immigrant woman who faced domestic violence, homelessness, and the challenges of being a single mother, Doina knows firsthand the barriers that can stand in the way of success. Through the support of those who believed in her, she became determined to be the change she wanted to see in the world—creating opportunities not only for her own daughters but for the next generation of youth.

hEr VOLUTION is here to inspire and revolutionize the STEM industry and change the world. 

Since our founding over a decade ago, hEr VOLUTION has supported over 4,000 youth across Ontario, and we’re committed to reaching even more underserved youth as we grow. Our goal is to close the gender gap in STEM, and partnerships with companies who share this vision are key to making it happen. By working together, we can create lasting opportunities and help shape a future where girls and gender non-conforming youth can thrive in STEM.
